Worship Service (Maundy Thursday)
Maundy Thursday (sometimes called “Holy Thursday”). The word “Maundy” comes from the Latin word “mandatum” (from which we derive our English word “mandate”).
On the night before his arrest, Jesus gathered with his closest followers to celebrate the Festival of the Passover. After they ate, Jesus gave them a new commandment to follow: “Love one another.” This evening, as we gather to worship and we will contemplate the power of both Jesus’ words and actions that evening.
