Congratulations!

As you journey towards your special day, we at Summerside Presbyterian Church are here to assist you with your plans and have provided the following guidelines:

  • Contact Us are soon as you have decided on a date to confirm that the Minister and/or the church are available for that date.
  • Your Marriage License must be obtained through Access PEI. Their phone number is 888-8000. To obtain a license you will both need your birth certificate and your social insurance number. If you have been married before, you will need an original certificate of divorce with seal or death certificate, whichever applies. You will need to confirm the date and place of your marriage and the name of the person officiating. Please note that the license is only valid for three months from the date of issue.
  • Before the wedding you will be asked to meet with the Minister for a minimum of two sessions. At these meetings the Minister will review the content of your ceremony, the commitment of marriage and counselling as needed. In addition, a date and time will be arranged for the wedding rehearsal.
  • The availability of the church and the services of the Minister are a privilege for members and adherents ( those who financially support the church). If you wish to acknowledge the cost of the church and/or the services of the Minister, an honorarium is graciously accepted.The wedding fees for non-members:
    • Minister’s fee is $150.00
    • Use of the Sanctuary is $100.00
    • If the wedding is not at the church, mileage expenses may apply.
  • It is the couple’s responsibility to arrange music.
  • Guest Photography is only permitted as the bridal party come down the aisle, during the signing of the register and following the ceremony as most couples hire a professional photographer.
  • It is permissible to videotape the service as long as the video camera is stationary and out of the way. Please confirm this with the Minister.
  • There is absolutely NO CONFETTI in or around the church nor anything that would require clean up on church property!
