Our Mission is to know, love and serve God wherever we are and to inspire others to do the same by our thoughts, words and deeds.
Our vision is to be a church responding to human hurts and hopes within its walls and beyond.
To live out our Mission and our Vision we have established Ministries in which members of our congregation participate. We believe that every Christian has been gifted and called by God to serve Him and others. One of the goals of Session is to encourage congregational ownership of and participation in our church ministries. The more congregational members we have participating in ministries the stronger the sense of community will be within our congregation and the stronger our witness will be in the community and globally.

Christian Education/ Family Ministries: (Submitted by Debbie Richard)
Sunday School
* What an honour and a blessing it is to be involved with the children, youth and families of our church family. We have such a wonderful time together exploring God and his kingdom and learning about the life and ministry of Jesus.
* This year we have been blessed to have 45+ children and youth be a part of our Sunday morning worships plus our Pizza & Games/Deck the Halls events.
* During our Sunday mornings we spend time listening to each other, praying together for all things, hearing a Bible story and engaging in an activity related to it, plus learning fun songs. Some of the people we became more familiar with this year were David, Samuel, Solomon and Zaccheus, as well as Jesus.
* During Holy Week, children received a package with daily stories and activities to do together with their families at home as we learned the significance of this week. This was an engaging and interactive way to follow along with Jesus and learn the true meaning of Easter.
* Near the end of the year, we engaged in a mission project for PWS&D where we sold paper goats for $5.00 each in hopes of raising $60.00 to buy a goat for a family to help them secure food and income. We were blown away with our church family’s generosity as we raised $720.00 equaling 12 goats. What a great experience for everyone involved! Thank you so much!
* We once again made and served delicious chocolate chip cookies for our church family to enjoy. A fun way to share with you all!
* We are grateful to the members of our church family who presented dramas at both Easter and Christmas. Watching these events helps us to learn in a real-life way the stories that surround both these important times of Jesus’ life and of our faith. Thanks to everyone who participated!
* Our learning space downstairs is in the process of being revamped. Quilts are being hung and lighting is being replaced in hopes to contain loudness and energy. Stations of playdough and Lego have also been added to assist in diversifying the way we engage with our Bible stories. Hopefully these additions will encourage and assist with all learning types and levels.
* Thank you to Kathy Anne Haslam and Wendy Gallant for taking over the classroom a couple times and to Lucy, Wilson and Thayne Bernard for assisting when needed.
* A huge thank you to everyone in our church family for your support and encouragement for our children, youth and families. Together we are able to build relationships, grow in faith and work together in mission.
PAYS
* The spring Presbyterian Atlantic Youth Synod event was held at Camp Geddie May 23-25 with 4 of us travelling together over to the camp. Lucy, Rowan, Angela and I enjoyed getting to reconnect with friends from all over the Maritimes, meet new folks, engage in mission including some cleaning of the camp and cabins, sing some awesome songs, enjoy the nature surrounding the camp and share faith stories. Such a wonderful way to deepen our connection to God! It was a pleasure for Angela and myself to be involved in the organization of the event.
* Angela and I also joined in PAYS on the road in the fall when we joined together with a few others to attend the Rend Collective worship event in Moncton October 19.
Pizza and Games Nights
* Two pizza and games nights were held during the year – one in March (58 attendees) and one in October (40 attendees). We always have fun sharing board games, costumes, treasure hunts, pizza and desserts! Thanks to all who joined in!
Deck the Halls
* This year our annual Cookies and Christmas event was merged with the decorating of the sanctuary to create our new Deck the Halls event. Over 30 of us had a wonderful time working together hanging ornaments and lights, decorating cookies, making crafts, sipping cider and hot chocolate and enjoying fellowship. Thanks to everyone for making our sanctuary look so beautiful for the Advent season!
KD Lunch
* In May 2010 we began serving Kraft Dinner Lunch to the students of Three Oaks Senior High every Thursday during the noon hour. Fifteen years later (minus covid and construction), we are still here going strong, with God’s grace, serving Kraft Dinner, rolls, apples and the ever-popular cookies and sweets each week. The students are incredibly polite and thankful, always saying thanks as they receive their meals and as they leave for their afternoon classes. Some are in and out the door quickly while others will linger with their friends, just chatting together, engaging in a game, or playing a tune on the piano.
* This mission and youth ministry project reaps rewards in so many ways including: providing a hot meal and a safe space for the students, building relationships with those students, seeing the goodness of the youth, having volunteers working together preparing and serving meals sharing life stories and laughter, and also feeling all the love of our church family and our community as we all contribute through gifts of Kraft dinner, baked goods, other supplies and monetary donations.
* A special thanks to Janet-Rose for baking fresh out- of- the oven cookies most weeks, and to Anne,Mike, Paul, Lorna, Julie and Carmen for being in the kitchen each week as well as our standby volunteers who come when we need an extra set of hands.
* This year we were especially grateful to receive a $2500 grant from the City of Summerside which enabled us to purchase a new stove for our kitchen.
* We also send thanks to Water Street Bakery for the rolls each week and to ADL for the case of butter that makes our KD taste so amazing (so the students say)!
* This fall and into the new year we have been consistently serving over 100 students per week!
* Together we make this a warm and welcoming space for the students to just be themselves. Thanks so much to all of you!!
Workshops
* I was blessed to have the support of Session and our church family in being able to participate in the online learning sessions put on by the Association of Partners in Christian Education for 3 days in January.
* I was also able to attend informative monthly online learning workshops presented through our Synod by the Camping and Youth Consultant and also another through the Christian Education Exchange from our National Church.
* I have enjoyed being able to gain new insight and ideas into making our space more comfortable for all learning styles and levels as well as being recharged myself with plenary speakers and worship at these events.

* Throughout the past year, Coffeetime was hosted once a month following Sunday worship by the Fellowship Ministry. These gatherings provided a welcoming space for conversation, connection, and fellowship among our church family. Attendance was steady, and the time shared over coffee strengthened relationships and community within our congregation.

Our focus is to support missions within the congregation, community and globally. Thanks to our SPC family, there was an overwhelming support for each of the following mission projects undertaken!
KD Lunch
* This mission project continues to go strong! The generosity of our church family & our local community with donations of food, cookies, cash and time has allowed this program to continue. A dedicated group of volunteers find this project very rewarding. SPC extends our thanks every box of KD donated and the delicious cookies!
* SPC received a Summerside Vulnerable Populations Community Grant from the City of Summerside in the amount of $2,500. “I have heard great things about this lunch program!” was the message forwarded with the funding. Drop into the kitchen and check out the new stove.
Lifehouse
* In 2025, the Giving Tree in the Church Lobby had 3 baskets placed under the tree. Each week the baskets are filled up with your donations from the “Monthly Needs List” provided from Lifehouse. The items are dropped off the last week of the month.
* When Easter season arrived, SPC delivered twelve Easter baskets to the children at Lifehouse.
* The funds ($326) from the door of the Craft Sale were also donated to Lifehouse. The funds were used to purchase $50.00 gift cards for their residents to assist them with Christmas shopping.
* Thanks to all for supporting this new mission project!
Coldest Night of the Year
* The Summerside Presbyterian Trekkers raised $4,425.00 with your support! If you remember, it happened to be sunny day for the 17 walkers who left Credit Union Place for a 2 KM or 5 KM walk. What a fun day! A few of us enjoyed the rest spots along the route which offered hot chocolate and apple cider. Thanks to each of you for supporting our team. All funds raised were donated to the Lifehouse Emergency Shelter located in Summerside.
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
* Pancakes & Cake what a great combination! This year the funds raised ($720) from the supper were shared between the youth fund and the SPC operating budget.
Baked Potato Bar
* Another favorite, the Baked Potato Bar! Our SPC family gathered to share baked potatoes loaded with our favorite toppings after Sunday worship. Thanks to the Waugh family for the donation of the potatoes. We raised $428.00, which was donated to Presbyterian Sharing.
Camp Keir
* In June, sundaes were on the menu after Church. We raised $528.00 for Camp Keir by eating ice cream together—Biggest discussion which flavour was the favorite??!!
Food Bank Drive
* The food drive was held Sept. 14th till Thanksgiving Sunday. Prior to sending our donation off to the Salvation Army Food Bank, the Sunday School Class lined up the boxes to create a domino effect down the center isle of the Church. We cheered on the youngsters as the boxes tumbled over.
White Gifts
* White Gift Sunday was well received. The Salvation Army was delighted to receive a car load of gifts to distribute for their Christmas outreach ministries. A huge Thank-You!
Christmas Cards for Long-term Care Residents
* While sharing stories & laughter, we were able to sign 240 Christmas cards, containing messages of hope, peace, joy & love. Wedgewood Manor and Andrew’s Lodge were excited to receive the cards and we received kind works from both facilities for keeping their residents in our thoughts & prayers.
PWS&D- Did you purchase a Goat?
* During December the Sunday School children sold paper goats @ $5.00 each to support a PWS&D project listed in the Gifts of Change Booklet. They raised $720.00 enough to purchase 12 goats. Our donation to Presbyterian World Service & Development for the year totalled $1,970.00. The donation included the Christmas Eves offering as well as the value of the goats.
Seniors Outreach Ministry
* Rev. Brad and Nancy Harvey alternate as leaders to conduct monthly worship services at Andrews Lodge. Christa McDougall shares the gift of music, which the residents really enjoy!

Pastoral Care: (Submitted by Nancy Harvey)
Pastoral Care is the ministry of presence. It is having the ability to come along side of and to journey with both those who are in a happy place and those who may find themselves in a space that is difficult to bear.
* During 2025, we have been exploring ways to enhance our current pastoral care ministries and to find new ways to share God’s love by keeping connected and being present with others.
* The Card Ministry is one of the ministries whereby we connect in times of difficulty and in times of celebration.
* Recognizing the importance of showing interest in and care for all people in our church family, Session has encouraged Elders to use a variety of formats to connect with the members of SPC including: emails, text messages, Facebook, phone calls, pastoral visits and/or messages. Mutual blessings are shared between those giving and receiving pastoral care.
* Weekend Updates, prepared by Rev. Brad and circulated through the Email Ministry, are effective in keeping the members of our Church Family connected and are very wellreceived.
* A Meal Ministry has been set up to provide meals to our church family, on a short-term basis, for those for whom meal preparation may have become a challenge. Eileen Targett coordinates this ministry with referrals from Rev. Brad or Session members.
* Prayer Ministry: Prayer is a powerful means of caring for others. Each week there are “Things to Pray About” listed in the bulletin. These include needs of the congregation, our community and our world. If you have prayer requests to share, please contact Rev. Brad.
* Fund for Families: The Pastoral Care Ministry administers the Fund for Families, which was set up to provide financial assistance to members of our Church Family who find themselves in extraordinary circumstances and could use a financial boost. In 2025 we were able to support two families.
Worship: (Submitted by Rev. Brad Blaikie)
This year in we have continued to gather on a weekly basis for worship. As we followed the flow of the church year and were guided by the selected lectionary readings for most weeks, we allowed this practice of worshiping together to continue shaping and forming us as faithful followers of Jesus. When you gather each week, there are plenty of opportunities for “sacred” and special moments. While I certainly couldn’t list every significant worship moment of the year, below I have highlighted some I feel are worth
noting:
* Our children have continued to be a welcome and vital part of our worship services. Throughout the year we were very intentional about providing opportunities for our littlest worshipers to be engaged in ways that are meaningful for them, e.g. special songs, crafts, etc.
* This year we were able to gather with our friends and neighbours from Trinity United Church for services on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. Having our two congregations worship together on these special days has proven to be a blessing and we look forward to continuing the practice in upcoming years.
* In September we began our journey through The Narrative Lectionary, which attempts to cover the over-arching biblical story between the months of September to May. While at times presenting us with some challenging passages, the feedback I have received to date has been primarily positive and I look forward to allowing this lectionary to continue to guide us in the opening months of 2026.
* On Thanksgiving Sunday we presented our donated food and prayed God’s blessing over it. There is perhaps no better way to express our gratitude for life’s blessings than by sharing what we have with others!
* Our Christmas Eve services were well attended and it was a treat to see so many of our church family able to gather for worship on such a special night!
* Worship has continued to be enhanced by our talented and dedicated choir. I am incredibly thankful to all those who shared their gifts of music throughout the year. In particular, I would like to make mention of Ruth Ann; God continues to bless us through the offering of her gifts and talents. Also, a thank you to Christa McDougall and Grant Taylor-Paynter who have shared their gifts with us by providing music on Sundays when Ruth Ann has been away.
* While I may be leading the service most Sundays, the truth is that worship is something that we all do together! And likewise, it takes the sharing of many gifts from many people to pull off the quality of worship that we currently enjoy.
With that in mind, I want to say a huge thank you to:
* Bruce Montgomery for faithfully preparing slides for each service!
* Cheri MacKenzie and Bruce Montgomery who run our technology upstairs.
* Debbie Richard for providing for the spiritual needs of our youngest worshipers.
* Countless others who give of their time to make worship a welcoming and meaningful experience: those who greet, those who stay late to count offering, those who participate in worship through reading and sharing their gifts, those who tidy up behind the scenes and do those weekly little jobs that nobody else sees.
* As we journey through 2026 may we have another wonderful year of singing God’s praises and worshiping together!
