The Session of our congregation consists of our minister and ten ruling elders.
It is the duty of Session to meet regularly for the purpose of establishing good order, providing for the pastoral care of the congregation and providing oversight of the programs and property of the church.
Our Session meets on the first Wednesday of the month September through June for a regularly called meeting. Special meetings are held as needed.

Session Report 2025 Year
Session meets regularly for the purpose of establishing good order, providing for the pastoral care of the congregation and providing oversight of the ministries and property of the church.

Session Notes:
* Session acknowledges, with gratitude, a grant from Presbyterians Sharing (Congregational and Community Ministries) to cover part of the salary for Debbie Richard’s position as Christian Education Coordinator and to support the creation of a sensory-friendly space for Children’s Ministry. As well, we are grateful to former members of our congregation who gave bequests that are being used to support this and other congregational ministries.
* Session is also grateful for a grant from the Synod Mission Committee to provide resources and support in developing an inclusive educational program for children and youth.
* Additionally, Session gratefully acknowledges the receipt of a grant from the City of Summerside’s Vulnerable Population Community Group Fund in support of the Kraft Dinner Lunch ministry.
*We were privileged to have Karen Plater, Associate Secretary of Stewardship for the Presbyterian Church in Canada, join us for a worship service in October and share a message on Stewardship.
* It has been good to be able to provide space for use by a variety of community groups or programs during 2025 including: a weekly Ecumenical Prayer Group, Y-Service Club meetings, Yoga classes, a Rug-hooking course, and Summerside Community Choir practices. The participants in each of these groups have expressed their appreciation for the use of a welcoming and accessible space.
* It was a pleasure to have two special music performances during Advent: “Step Into Christmas” with the Silver Tones, directed by Christa McDougall, and the ensemble TSSK, and “Journey to Bethlehem” by SPC Choir and Friends, directed by Ruth Ann Read-Clay.
- It was special to have members of the Summerside Community Choir participate in two of our worship services, one during Lent and one during Advent. This was an opportunity for the choir to express appreciation to our congregation for the use of our facility for their practices
* It was encouraging to have some new initiatives at SPC this fall: Ground Beef Fundraiser, Fall Fair, and Deck the Halls. These events contributed funds and/or intergenerational fellowship and are described in more detail in other sections of the Annual Report.
